M1-19 Half Marathon: Agarwal takes the title at 17

• Utkarsh Agarwal, 17, wins in 1:22:37 (6:18/mi) — the fastest in the M1-19 field and more than 90 seconds clear of runner-up Kai Chang.
• Kai Chang (1:24:08, 6:25/mi) held 2nd in a field of 51; Marcus Balistreri, just 15, rounded out the podium in 1:28:46 — and had already claimed 2nd in the Men's 5K the day before.
• Alexander Hack delivered the biggest charge of the race, moving from well outside the top 100 among men at the start to finish 5th in M1-19 in 1:32:19.
• Inocencio Puente, age 12, crossed in 1:42:25 (7:49/mi) — 16th in the field — a standout result for the youngest finisher listed.

Utkarsh Agarwal, a 17-year-old from Mountain View, controlled this race with authority. He came through the early miles near the front of the men's field, posted the 3rd-fastest split on the 2.2M–5.7M segment among women — a useful benchmark for pace in the field — and never relinquished his M1-19 lead. His 6:18/mi average over 13.1 miles in San Francisco's cool, humid morning air produced a winning time of 1:22:37 that no one in the field came close to matching.

Kai Chang (1:24:08, 6:25/mi) ran a measured race from 4th early to a clear 2nd-place finish, clocking the 3rd-fastest split on the 6.43M–8.3M segment among women — a sign he was moving well through the middle miles. Marcus Balistreri's 3rd-place finish in 1:28:46 was remarkable in its own right: the 15-year-old from Pacifica had already raced on Saturday, finishing 2nd in the Men's 5K. Backing that up with a podium in the half marathon made him one of the weekend's best stories. Nicholas Guan (4th, 1:29:25) faded slightly across the back half after a strong start, slipping from 8th among men at the opening checkpoint to 21st by the finish.

The most dramatic trajectory belonged to Alexander Hack, who was deep in the men's field — outside the top 160 — at the first checkpoint before steadily climbing to 5th in M1-19 (1:32:19, 7:03/mi). Jake Boston (6th, 1:32:50) and Ryan Tran (7th, 1:33:35) ran close behind him. And don't overlook 12-year-old Inocencio Puente, who finished 16th in 1:42:25 — a genuine feat for the youngest competitor in the group.
