San Francisco Half Marathon 2025: Romero Anides Wins a Tight F60-64 Battle

• Hugo Meliton Romero Anides took the F60-64 title in 2:02:18 (9:20/mi), the only finisher in the group to break 2:03.
• Carole Ugolini Lucas was just 42 seconds back at 2:03:00, making for the closest gap at the top of a 56-finisher field.

Hugo Meliton Romero Anides of Texcoco won the F60-64 race in 2:02:18 at a 9:20/mi clip, and the way she got there tells the real story. Starting the day around 556th among women, she steadily climbed through the field — reaching 532nd, then 520s, then 478th — before a strong closing stretch on the 11.05M-to-finish segment, where she posted the 298th-fastest women's split in the entire race, vaulting her to 432nd among women by the line. That kind of late surge is how you win close races.

And close it was. Carole Ugolini Lucas of Gulfport, FL ran 2:03:00 — just 42 seconds behind — to claim 2nd. Lucas had her own strong middle stretch, recording the 428th-fastest women's split on the 6.15M–10.54M segment, and she tracked Romero Anides almost mile for mile through the women's standings. The gap at the finish was narrow, but Romero Anides had opened enough of a cushion before the final push that Lucas couldn't quite close it.

Bharathi Ramajayam (San Ramon, CA) rounded out the podium in 3rd at 2:07:27 (9:43/mi). She spent much of the race deeper in the women's field — sitting around 942nd among women early — but climbed steadily and finished 660th, posting the 488th-fastest women's closing split to seal her place. Behind her, Wendi Platt (4th, 2:08:51) and Karen Treuter of Leipzig (5th, 2:10:42) kept the pressure on through the back half, separated by just under two minutes at the line.

Catherine Blakesley (6th, 2:11:47), Margaret Riley (7th, 2:12:33), and Hong Fu (8th, 2:13:15) filled out a competitive top ten, all finishing within about 11 minutes of the winner. The full F60-64 field stretched across 56 finishers, with Maribel Gómez Valencia of Mexico marking 20th place at 2:33:19 before the rest of the group completed their runs across the San Francisco streets.
