Tom MacRae, 59 — the oldest man on the podium — made his intentions clear from the gun and never let up. Starting the race around the 202nd spot in the men's field, he steadily carved through the competition, climbing to 130th among men by the finish. His 7:30/mi average was the class of M55-59, and he crossed in 1:38:25, a margin that made the win look comfortable. Tony Lee ran a strong 1:40:23 at 7:39/mi to claim second, moving from 326th to 182nd in the men's field — a sustained push all the way to the line — but MacRae had too much of a cushion to threaten.

The real drama in this race unfolded from 3rd place onward. Ranieri, Fu, and Fang hit the finish in a breathless cluster: 1:45:15, 1:45:17, and 1:45:17 — the places separated by timing precision that the clock barely captures. Notably, Fang posted the 185th-fastest men's split on the 10.54M–11.05M segment, while Ranieri (257th on that segment) and Fu (277th) had faded slightly in that stretch before Fang's surge.
