Adele Smolansky (24, Brooklyn, NY) didn't look like a winner through the first half of this race. Running as far back as 56th among women at the opening checkpoint, she was methodical early — but the second half of San Francisco's notoriously hilly course is where she made her move. Her 2nd-fastest women's split on the back half tells the whole story: a sustained, powerful surge that carried her from 17th among women late in the race all the way to 5th, and ultimately to the F20-29 title in 1:38:43 at a 7:32/mi average.

Grace Ajayi (23, San Francisco, CA) ran an altogether different race — volatile but ultimately brilliant. She was as high as 11th among women before slipping to 16th, then unleashed the 4th-fastest women's split on the 12M→Finish segment to close in 1:38:50. Seven seconds. That's the margin between her and Smolansky — a finish gap that reflects two athletes running nearly identical times on a day when 14 mph winds off the bay made every second count. Smolansky was simply already through the tape.

Lucy Downing (22, Larkspur, CA) rounded out the podium in 1:39:33, showing her own speed with the 10th-fastest women's split on the 8M→9.6M segment. She held a steady position near the top 10 among women through much of the race and never faded, finishing 3rd in the F20-29 field by 43 seconds over 4th-place Haley Wang (21, Dublin, CA), who crossed in 1:41:47. Wang's own late charge — the 11th-fastest women's split on the 12M→Finish leg — wasn't enough to close that gap, but it secured her a clear 4th. Jessica Ehret (23, Coronado, CA) rounded out the top five in 1:45:50, with the remaining 15 listed finishers spread across 1:46 to 1:53, capping a deep and competitive F20-29 field of 353.
