Tom Thimot, 60, of Los Gatos, owned this race from start to finish — and then some. His 7:58/mi average was the class of an 87-man field, and his moves tell the real story: he entered the women's gender standings at 546th place early on and steadily carved through the field all the way to 237th by the finish, a relentless forward march across 13.1 miles. His strongest surge came on the 12M→Finish stretch, where he posted the 120th-fastest split among all women in the race — a genuinely fast closing kick under San Francisco's 14 mph wind and 59°F chill.

Steve Dalke, 64, of Bakersfield ran a measured 8:10/mi to claim second at 1:47:08. Dave Payne, also 64, from Los Altos Hills, completed the podium in 1:48:28 at 8:16/mi, and his own tracking shows a strong mid-race segment — posting the 103rd-fastest split among women on the 8M→9.6M stretch, a sign he was moving well through the hills before settling into his final pace.

The race's most dramatic moment near the front came in the battle for 4th. Israel Hernandez of San Marcos and Jose Gomez, racing from México D.F., ran virtually the entire course within reach of each other and crossed the line in 1:54:18 and 1:54:19 respectively — one second separating them after nearly 13 miles. Hernandez had been the faster runner through the 9.6M→10.5M segment, while Gomez had been quicker on the 4M→6M stretch, and neither could shake the other. Hernandez got the nod.

Tom Surrette (6th, 1:56:52), Brian Durkin (7th, 1:57:29), and Nam Nguyen (8th, 1:58:20) rounded out the next tier, all finishing within a two-minute window. Jestin Cheng (10th, 2:01:19) and Yan Wu (11th, 2:01:41) were equally close behind Pawel Zysk (9th, 2:00:25), keeping the mid-field competition tight throughout.
