There was only one name on the W40-44 leaderboard at Shamrock 2025, and Ever Guevara of Silver Spring, MD made it count. The 44-year-old crossed the finish line in 4:10:35, averaging 9:33 per mile across 26.2 miles in conditions that were anything but easy — 71°F, 73% humidity, and a 17 mph wind off the Virginia Beach coast.

Guevara never relinquished her standing among the women, holding 1st from the opening miles all the way to the finish. More than just steady, she was sharp early: her 5K-to-10K split was the fastest of any woman in the field, a sign she was moving with real purpose through those middle-early miles rather than simply surviving the heat and wind.

With no one else in the W40-44 group to measure against, the real competition was the course itself — and on a day when the conditions pushed back hard, a 4:10:35 finish with a top women's split to her name is a result worth celebrating on its own terms.
