Schwarm tracked a nearly identical arc, also gaining ground late, but couldn't close the 34-second gap that separated them.

Devane held third comfortably, but the race's most compelling mover was Keyes in 4th. Starting well back — 63rd among men at the one-mile mark — he reeled in position after position to finish 43rd among men at 49:36, a 20-place climb that stood out across the entire group. Behind him, Braden Fukuda ran the opposite story: entering the final mile in 49th among men and slipping to 55th, crossing in 51:37 to take 5th.

The back half of the top 20 was a genuine logjam.
