Two Cities Half Marathon: Jason Dudley Dominates M45-49

• The gap from 3rd to 4th was a yawning 8:45 — Shaun Spradling's 1:35:56 marked a clear break in the competitive tier.

Jason Dudley ran one of the sharpest races in the M45-49 field on a warm November morning in Fresno — 74°F and clear skies aren't ideal conditions for fast half marathon times, which makes his 1:22:22 at 6:17/mi all the more impressive. He entered the first mile already moving well, and by the 10K mark had climbed from 90th among men to 13th, a charge that announced he was in a different gear than almost everyone around him.

Cris Flores gave chase and made it a genuine contest through the early miles. His 1:23:25 — a 6:22/mi effort — kept him within striking distance off the first segment, where he posted the 15th-fastest men's split on the 1M→10K stretch. But Dudley held his advantage through the back half and crossed 63 seconds ahead. Bernardo Salcido rounded out the podium in 1:27:11, his best work coming late: that 23rd-fastest men's closing split confirmed he finished with something in the tank and put nearly four minutes between himself and 4th-place Shaun Spradling.

Beyond the podium, 51 men finished the M45-49 race across a wide range of efforts, from Spradling's 1:35:56 through a deep mid-pack anchored around the 1:53–2:03 window. Edgar Macias (5th, 1:39:30) and Andrew Martinez (6th, 1:44:18) were the next men to separate themselves from the pack. It was a competitive morning at the front and a well-attended group throughout — a solid showing for the age group at Two Cities.
