Three women from across California toed the line for the F18-20 race at the Napa Valley Marathon 5K, with Maria Ibrahim making the clearest statement. Running at 9:47 per mile on a cool, humid morning — 55°F with 93% humidity and an 8 mph breeze off the out-and-back course — the 19-year-old from Brentwood finished in 30:24, a comfortable and controlled victory.

The gap to second place was substantial. Victoria Ciuriuc, also 19 and representing Sacramento, crossed in 54:18 at a 17:29/mi pace — nearly 24 minutes behind Ibrahim. That's a wide margin in a 5K, and it reflects two very different days on the course rather than a close contest. Ciuriuc nonetheless secured the runner-up spot with room to spare.

Chloe De Vera, the youngest in the field at 18 and traveling from Lake Forest, completed the race in 1:19:56 at 25:44 per mile — a grind through the humidity that earned her 3rd place and a finish line all the same. In a small field, every finisher counts, and De Vera got it done.

Ibrahim's win is clean and uncontested — she owned this race from the first step to the last. For a Kiwanis Club community event where every dollar stays in the Napa Valley, it's a fitting result: a young runner from the region delivering the day's most decisive performance in her age group.
