Napa Valley Marathon 5K: Darren Mckean Owns M65-69

• Darren Mckean took the M65-69 win in 30:05 (9:41/mi), finishing more than 2:22 ahead of second place.
• Ed Dua claimed second in 32:27 (10:27/mi), running a noticeably faster pace than anyone else in the chasing pack.
• Robert Oneill and Barry Driks staged a tight mid-field battle, finishing 3rd in 41:12 and 4th in 42:53 — just 1:41 apart.
• Seven men finished the out-and-back course on a cool, humid Sunday morning in Napa.

Darren Mckean of Santa Rosa set the tone early and never let up, crossing in 30:05 at 9:41/mi to claim the M65-69 title with authority. His margin over Ed Dua — 2:22 — was decisive, not a photo finish. Dua, representing Berkeley, ran a strong second in 32:27 (10:27/mi), putting clear daylight between himself and the rest of the field. Those two ran in a different gear from everyone else.

Behind them, Napa's own Robert Oneill delivered a home-course effort, finishing 3rd in 41:12 (13:16/mi). Barry Driks of Allen, TX was right on his heels, taking 4th in 42:53 (13:48/mi). The 1:41 gap between them was the closest battle of the day, with Oneill holding off Driks across the full 3.1 miles on a damp, 55°F morning.

James Collins of Corte Madera rounded out the top five in 51:47 (16:40/mi), followed by David Golinveaux of Danville in 6th at 57:13 (18:25/mi). Raghu Rajagopalan of Cupertino completed the seven-man field in 1:14:02 (23:50/mi) — every finisher earning their spot on a Kiwanis Club-organized course whose proceeds flow right back into the Napa Valley community.
