With temperatures sitting at 29°F and a 16 mph wind cutting through Huntsville, the F15-19 field of nine toed the line in conditions that demanded toughness from the start. Makayla Roberts, just 16 years old from Hazel Green, answered that demand emphatically — her 57:55 finish at a 9:19/mi average was the only sub-hour run in the group and put clear daylight between herself and everyone behind her.

The sharpest contest of the morning was the race for second. Emily Garcia of Muscle Shoals closed in 59:34 at 9:35/mi — a noticeably slower pace than Roberts but fast enough to hold off the rest of the field by a comfortable margin. The 1:39 gap between first and second was the smallest of the entire race, making it the one genuine head-to-head battle worth watching. Rebecca Bernico of Huntsville locked up 3rd at 1:07:49, running 10:55/mi and finishing more than eight minutes ahead of 4th place to make the podium feel settled well before the finish line.

The middle of the field saw a tight skirmish between Ava Rice (5th, 1:19:24) and Taylor Cowan (6th, 1:19:58) — just 34 seconds apart after 6.2 miles — followed by Abigail Silvernail in 7th at 1:26:02 and Katie Simmons in 8th at 1:28:16. Jayden Trowbridge, the field's youngest at 15, finished 9th in 1:33:20, completing the race in conditions that would have sent plenty of adults back to bed.
