With temperatures locked at 29°F and a 16 mph wind biting through downtown Huntsville, the M45-49 field of 30 sent a clear message: the cold doesn't slow everyone down. Martin Harris, 46, out of Pike Road, was in a category of his own — his 40:42 at 6:33/mi wasn't just a win, it was a statement, crossing the line more than three minutes clear of anyone else in the group. That kind of margin in a 10K doesn't happen by accident.

Behind Harris, Josh Fowler (43:50, 7:03/mi) and Daniel Brunick (44:03, 7:05/mi) ran a tight, hard race for the remaining podium spots. Fowler held 2nd, but Brunick made it interesting — 13 seconds is close enough that a single rough mile could have reshuffled the order. Notably, Brunick has been here before: he finished 8th among men at this same race in 2024 with a 44:10, and on Saturday he came back sharper, trimming 7 seconds off that mark to land on the M45-49 podium. That's a quiet but meaningful improvement on a frigid morning.

Scott Sandlin (4th, 48:16) and Charlie Cook (5th, 50:53) rounded out the top five with solid efforts, while the middle of the field produced one of the more remarkable statistical footnotes of the day: Dan Chappell (13th, 57:46), Jason Deem (14th, 57:48), and Michael Holder (15th, 57:48) finished within two seconds of each other across three separate finishers. Timing finer than the displayed clock separated Deem and Holder, but all three ran essentially the same race — a testament to just how tightly packed the M45-49 field was beyond the top four.
