Rocket City 10K: Shaver edges out a frozen sprint to top M15-19

• William Shaver wins M15-19 in 38:17 (6:10/mi), with Jackson Allen just 23 seconds back at 38:40 (6:13/mi) — the closest battle of the age group.
• A massive gap separates the top two from the rest: Jack Parry finishes 3rd in 49:36, nearly 11 minutes behind Allen.
• Deshon Wallace completes the 11-man field in 1:32:34 (14:54/mi), with all 11 finishers crossing in 29°F wind-chilled conditions.

At 29°F with a 16 mph wind cutting through Huntsville, the M15-19 field turned in a race of two very distinct stories. At the front, William Shaver and Jackson Allen — both Huntsville locals — ran each other into the ground over 6.2 miles. Shaver took the win in 38:17 at a 6:10/mi clip, with Allen pressing him every step of the way and finishing in 38:40 at 6:13/mi. Twenty-three seconds is a real margin, but in a 10K on a bitter December morning, it represents a genuine battle between two teenagers who came to race.

Then came the gap. Jack Parry of New Market crossed in 49:36 — nearly 11 minutes behind Allen — to claim 3rd, running a 7:59/mi pace that was a different race entirely from the front two. Henry Holland (4th, 54:32) and Henry Airhart (5th, 57:13) filled out the next tier, followed closely by Kaden Kim in 6th at 57:55. Shaun O'Neal rounded out the sub-65-minute finishers, crossing 7th in 1:02:08.

The back half of the field navigated a much longer morning. Noah Payne (9th, 1:15:14) and Christopher Farmer (10th, 1:15:15) finished just one second apart — the second-tightest margin of the entire age group. Deshon Wallace of Athens closed out the field in 11th at 1:32:34. Note: Jc Heikkinen's recorded time of 8:14:14 appears to reflect a timing anomaly rather than a race result. All 11 finishers deserve credit for toeing the line in one of the coldest race-day conditions North Alabama can offer.
