Eleven women toed the line for the F60-64 10K on a biting 29°F morning in Huntsville, with a 16 mph wind making every exposed stretch feel even sharper. Madelyn Patton, 63, made it look as clean as the clear sky overhead — she crossed in 52:58 at an 8:31/mi clip, the fastest pace in the group by a meaningful margin, and never relinquished the lead.

Karen E Kelly gave chase and finished a solid second in 54:07, running 8:43/mi — a noticeably harder ask in those conditions, and 1:09 behind Patton at the line. Amy Lawrence completed an all-Huntsville podium in 57:26 (9:15/mi), nearly three and a half minutes back of Kelly but well clear of the rest. Three women from the same city sweeping the top three spots in a field that stretched from Minnesota to Ohio to Kentucky is a genuine local statement.

Behind the podium, Debra Shone of Glasgow, Kentucky was the last woman under the hour mark, finishing 4th in 1:01:49 (9:57/mi). The field then spread across the back half of the morning: Lily Wagoner (5th, 1:08:32), Gina Porter (6th, 1:11:04), and Diane Palkert (7th, 1:11:27) ran in a loose cluster separated by just under three minutes across three spots. Karen Ritter (8th, 1:24:00), Jana McCarron (9th, 1:29:16), Melissa Butler (10th, 1:29:32), and Annie Maury (11th, 1:30:44) rounded out the field — every one of them finishing a 10K in freezing wind, which is its own kind of accomplishment.
