• Places 3 and 4 — Amber Cheeves and Anne Harbarger — finished in an identical displayed time of 1:51:33, with Cheeves edging Harbarger by the slimmest of margins to claim the bronze.
• Places 5 and 6 — Tina Tucker (1:52:06) and Kathy Beales (1:52:07) — were separated by just one second.
• Kristin Miller's listed time of 9:06:59 (41:44/mi avg) stands out as almost certainly a data anomaly rather than a race result.

Lynsey Tibbs of Birmingham made this one look controlled from the start. Running 8:03 per mile across 13.1 miles on a warm, humid December morning — 70°F with a stiff 17 mph wind — she built a lead that the rest of the F40-44 field simply couldn't answer. She also moved from 11th to 10th among all women in the closing stretch from 10K to the finish, posting the 12th-fastest women's split on that segment. By the time the tape came up, her margin over runner-up Lisa McCormick was 5:12 — a commanding victory.

McCormick, also of Birmingham, crossed in 1:50:48 (8:27/mi) to claim second, though her final leg told a slightly different story: she dropped from 17th to 20th among women over that 10K-to-finish stretch. Third and fourth were almost inseparable — Amber Cheeves from Murfreesboro and local runner Anne Harbarger both stopped the clock at 1:51:33, with Cheeves taking third by the narrowest timing margin. Notably, Cheeves was the stronger closer of the two, moving from 26th to 21st among women on the back half, while Harbarger faded from 16th to 22nd.

The battle for fifth was equally tight. Tina Tucker (1:52:06) and Kathy Beales (1:52:07) finished just one second apart, both running 8:33/mi — a genuine duel that could have gone either way. Beyond the top six, the F40-44 field spread wide, with 20 named finishers (and six more) ranging all the way out to 2:33 and beyond, a testament to the range of effort on a challenging weather day in Huntsville.
