Seventy degrees, stiff 17 mph winds, and 76% humidity in December made for a tough Huntsville morning, and Colleen Cross from Seattle handled it better than anyone in the F50-54 age group. Her 1:46:16 at 8:06 per mile wasn't just a win — it was a statement, putting more than 11 minutes between herself and second place. She also moved up a spot among the women in the second half of the race, posting the 11th-fastest women's split on the 10K-to-Finish segment. On a day that punished anyone who went out too hard, Cross was composed and relentless.

Behind her, Kim Benner of Birmingham ran a solid 1:57:55 to claim second in F50-54, while Katherine Harris — racing in her hometown of Huntsville — took third in 2:02:47. The gap from second to third was just under five minutes, and the battle for fourth was tighter still: Ana Seglem (2:06:38) edged Teresa Fisher (2:07:07) by 29 seconds, with Seglem doing the damage late. She was the biggest mover in the group on the back half, climbing from 59th to 49th among women and running the 45th-fastest women's split on that stretch to hold off Fisher.

The middle of the field — Michelle Ward, Melissa Matlock, and Rebecca Dotson — finished within a tight 53-second window between 2:09:10 and 2:10:03, making places 6 through 8 the most closely contested cluster of the race. Further back, the field spread out considerably, with Teresa Greenhalgh, Leeann Duncan, and Jonni Smotherman all gutting out the distance in challenging conditions — Smotherman crossing in 4:00:26 to close out the F50-54 finishers.
