• David Herrera climbed from 38th to 20th among men on the back half, running the 10th-fastest 2.5K→Finish split to lock up 3rd place in 20:00.
• A tight cluster from 4th through 10th: Brody Allen (22:07) through Skylar Thach (22:43) — six athletes separated by just 36 seconds.

Logan Letulle didn't just win the M19 & Under race — he dominated it. The 18-year-old from Orinda crossed in 16:37 at a 5:21/mi clip, a time that would have beaten every overall winner of this event in the editions we have on record except Alexandre Gagnon's 17:15 in 2025 and Joseph Molloy's 17:26 in 2023. He also posted the 2nd-fastest 2.5K→Finish split among the men, meaning he didn't just hold his pace — he pressed it all the way to the line. With a 2:20 cushion over second place, this was a wire-to-wire statement.

Desmond Sisson, just 14 years old, was the story of the chase pack. Running 18:57 at 6:06/mi, he held 9th among men by the finish and posted the 8th-fastest closing split in the men's field — a performance that speaks for itself given his age. David Herrera, 15, rounded out the podium in 20:00, but his second half told an even better story: he moved from 38th to 20th among men after the midpoint, running the 10th-fastest closing split to reel in finishers one by one and claim 3rd in M19 & Under.

Behind the podium, the race compressed into a compelling scrum. Brody Allen (19, Pleasanton) took 4th in 22:07, but Kyle Lee (17, San Francisco) was right on his heels in 22:15 — a gap of just 8 seconds. Lee actually faded slightly on the back half, while Allen held his position, and Darren Benavente (22:20) and Preston Lobraico (22:24) pressed close behind. Six finishers, 36 seconds — that's the kind of racing that makes a 5K worth watching. Kaeden Wong, just 10 years old out of San Jose, also deserves a mention: he crossed 13th in 23:26, one second behind his fellow San Jose runner Ethan Wong, in a field of 84.
