Running a crisp 5:31/mi average under San Francisco's 17 mph wind and 60°F morning chill, he didn't just win — he surged through the back half of the course, posting the 3rd-fastest men's split from 2.5K to the finish and vaulting from 6th to 3rd in the men's field along the way. His 17:08 sits comfortably below the 2025 men's overall winning mark of 17:15 set by Alexandre Gagnon, making it one of the sharpest performances this course has seen in recent editions.

The runner-up battle told a different story. Joseph Rogers of Sacramento came through the first half in solid position — 4th among men — but couldn't hold his pace on the closing stretch, slipping to 6th in the men's field by the finish. His 17:52 (5:45/mi) was still a confident performance, but the gap to Müller widened over those final kilometers. Kenton Gelis of San Rafael, meanwhile, was the picture of consistency: 18th among men at the 2.5K and 18th at the finish, clocking 19:49 (6:23/mi) for a well-earned third place in the M20-29 field.
