Holding 3rd place among women throughout, she wasn't just winning her group; she was racing at an entirely different gear, running 9:20/mi while the next finisher in NB30-34 came in at 10:60/mi. The margin tells the story: 10 minutes and 21 seconds back to 2nd place.

What made Bernales Lock's performance even sharper was her closing strength. Her 4.62M-to-Finish split ranked 2nd-fastest among all women in the race — meaning she wasn't just ahead on pace, she was accelerating while others faded in San Francisco's cool, humid morning air.

Behind her, Armaity Fouts of Livermore took 2nd in 1:08:20, with Ka Tung Yip of San Francisco 1:18 back in 3rd at 1:09:38. Fouts ran the final stretch with the 14th-fastest women's split, but Yip's 15th-fastest wasn't far off — the gap between them held steady rather than closing. Megumi Mori (4th, 1:13:37) and Carlino Mark Natividad (5th, 1:16:02) occupied the next tier, separated by about two and a half minutes.

Michelle Rockett of Seattle closed out the NB30-34 field in 1:17:24 — and she deserves a nod for showing up at all. Having already raced the Saturday 5K and finished 5th there, Rockett came back to take on the 10K, making her one of the weekend's double-dippers in the SF Marathon series.
