B.A.A. 10K F25-29: Durgin Dominates in the Heat

• Emily Durgin wins the F25-29 age group in 32:37 (5:15/mi), holding 4th among all women from start to finish.
• Top-three spread: just 40 seconds separated Durgin (32:37), Mary Munanu (32:56), and Erika Kemp (33:17) across 6.2 miles in 77°F heat.
• Late movers: Kemp climbed from 9th to 7th among women over the final stretch, posting the 5th-fastest women's split on the 8K-to-finish segment — as did Maggie Montoya, who matched that same 5th-fastest split to finish 4th in the age group at 33:23.

Emily Durgin ran a composed, wire-to-wire race. Sitting 4th among all women at every checkpoint, she never wavered — her 5:15/mi pace through Boston's warm, breezy morning was simply untouchable in the F25-29 field. She also posted the 4th-fastest women's split on the 5K-to-8K stretch, meaning her strongest segment came in the middle miles when the heat was at its most punishing.

Mary Munanu gave chase the entire way. Running 5:18/mi and holding 5th or 6th among women throughout, she crossed in 32:56 — 19 seconds back — to claim 2nd in the age group. Behind her, Erika Kemp was the race's most compelling mover. Starting 9th among women, she steadily worked her way up to 7th by the finish, and her 5th-fastest women's split on the closing 8K-to-finish segment signals she had another gear when others were fading in the heat.

Maggie Montoya (33:23) mirrored Kemp's late charge, also posting the 5th-fastest women's closing split to finish 4th, just six seconds behind Kemp. Daniela Torres rounded out the top five in 33:50, but her story ran the other direction — strong through the middle miles with the 11th-fastest women's 5K-to-8K split, she slipped from 7th to 10th among women in the final stretch. Holly Rees of Cambridge closed out the top six in 34:02, capping a tight, competitive front pack across a challenging summer morning in Boston.
