With the temperature locked at 29°F and a stiff 16 mph wind cutting across Huntsville, the F50-54 field didn't get any favors from the weather — but Billie Banning-Johnson didn't need them. The Villa Rica native crossed the line in 28:31 at a 9:11/mi clip to claim the age-group win, and she had to earn every second of it. Teresa C (Woodstock, GA) pushed her the entire way, finishing 25 seconds back in 28:56 at 9:19/mi. That's a genuine gap, but in a 5K, it's the kind of margin that keeps a leader honest from the first step to the last.

Hannah MacDonald-Reiter (Atlanta, GA) rounded out the podium in 29:31 (9:30/mi), finishing 35 seconds behind Teresa C and 60 seconds off the winning time. Arien Dwyer (Pearl, MS) was right behind in 29:53 (9:37/mi), making the top four a remarkably compact pack — all four women inside 82 seconds across a 5K in genuinely brutal conditions.

Just off the podium, Beverly Hensarling (Petal, MS) and Bonnie Reese (Stockbridge, GA) ran their own tight race within the race. Hensarling finished 5th in 31:13 (10:03/mi) and Reese 6th in 31:24 (10:06/mi) — 11 seconds and a full 70 seconds clear of 7th-place Stephanie Kinslow (Clarksville, TN, 33:59). The field spread out considerably from there, with Melissa Baumann (Pittsboro, IN) rounding out the listed finishers in 20th at 44:08 — and nine more women completing the course beyond her.
