With temperatures locked at 29°F and a 16 mph wind cutting across Huntsville, the M25-29 group sent 25 men to the line for the Rocket City Marathon 5K. Alex Springer wasted no time asserting himself, running a 6:25/mi average to cross in 19:57 — the only man in the group to crack 20 minutes. His Madison neighbor Jacob Nelson gave chase and held on for 2nd in 20:09, but those 12 seconds were enough to keep the crown firmly with Springer.

The real story behind the top two is the gap that opened to everyone else. Tyler Linton, also of Madison, finished a clear 3rd in 22:07 — nearly two full minutes behind Nelson. Patrick McMackin followed in 4th at 22:40, and Paul Dehm rounded out the top five in 23:32, meaning the first five men were spread across more than three and a half minutes of racing.

Further back, the group's closest battle unfolded near the bottom of the listed field. David Whitehead (15th, 36:27) and D'Mario Washington (16th, 36:28) separated by a single second after 3.1 miles in bitter cold — a tight finish that, by the timing, was no tie. Levi Davies followed in 17th at 36:50, and the back half of the field stretched through the 37- and 38-minute range, with five additional finishers beyond the top 20 completing the 25-man group. In those conditions, every finisher earned it.
