Three men lined up for the M21-24 5K on a cold Napa morning — 36°F with a light breeze — and Niroshan Anandasivam made the outcome look straightforward. The 23-year-old from Berkeley crossed in 22:46, running 7:20 per mile to finish more than five minutes ahead of his nearest competitor. In a short race, that kind of gap is a statement.

Behind him, Joshua Jankus of Napa took 2nd in 27:47 at 8:57/mi, while fellow 23-year-old Nicholas Calvaresi of Malvern finished 3rd in 30:09 at 9:42/mi. The 2:22 separating 2nd and 3rd was the closest battle on the day — Jankus's pace advantage of nearly a full minute per mile over Calvaresi kept that gap from closing as the race wore on.
