Boys M1-17: Blaise Morrill Runs Away with It at 13

• Blaise Morrill, age 13, won the M1-17 race in 22:03 at a 7:06/mi pace — nearly two minutes clear of the field.
• Jason Longoria took 2nd in 23:53 (7:41/mi), with Martin Stoyanov another 1:43 back in 3rd at 25:36.
• Ethan Ma, age 11, finished 5th in 27:34 — one second ahead of 6th-place Henry He (27:35) in the tightest battle of the day.
• Grady Stoiber and John Duddy, both age 7, finished 14th (31:29) and 20th (32:58) respectively — the youngest competitors in a 28-finisher field.

On a cold, drizzly March morning in Napa — 41°F, light rain, and 85% humidity — 28 boys took on the 5K. One of them made it look easy. Blaise Morrill, just 13 years old out of Saint Helena, crossed in 22:03 at a 7:06/mi clip, building a gap of 1:50 over the entire field. That's not a close race at the front — that's a statement.

Jason Longoria (16, Napa) held 2nd in 23:53, running a composed 7:41/mi to finish well clear of the chase pack. Martin Stoyanov (15, Menlo Park) rounded out the podium in 25:36, with Samuel Wang (14, Los Altos) just a minute back in 4th at 26:36. The front of this race was a steady, well-spaced procession — but the real drama came a bit further back.

Ethan Ma, just 11 years old from Palo Alto, put up one of the day's more impressive performances by finishing 5th in 27:34. He held off Henry He (14, Clyde Hill, WA) by a single second — He crossed in 27:35 for 6th. Jackson Good (13, Napa) was right behind in 7th at 27:42, meaning three runners finished within eight seconds of each other in a tight mid-pack scrum.

Worth a special mention: Grady Stoiber and John Duddy, both 7 years old, finished 14th and 20th in 31:29 and 32:58 respectively. Running a 5K in the rain at age 7 is its own kind of achievement — and they did it.
