He was moving well early — climbing from 71st among the men at the first check to 83rd — but the back half of the course took its toll. By Mile 10 he had slipped to 152nd among the men, and he continued to fall back through the final miles, finishing 222nd in the men's field in 3:26:34 at a 10:20/mi average. The 29:53 gap between the two teenagers is substantial, reflecting meaningfully different pacing strategies over 20 demanding miles.

Credit to both: finishing a 20-miler at 18 and 19 years old, in November heat that had no business feeling like summer, is no small thing. Burget takes the M1-19 title; Tadjeran earns his 2nd-place finish and, at 18, plenty of road ahead.
