F25-29: Seawell surges to the front and never looks back

• Jenica Seawell, 2:15:19 (6:46/mi) — won the F25-29 group and climbed from 5th to 1st among all women with the fastest women's split on the Mile 10→Mile 15.6 segment.
• Emily Auernig ran 2:29:51 (7:30/mi) to finish 2nd, holding 7th among all women from Mile 4 through the finish — a steady, unshaken effort.
• Camilla Hanson (2:47:30) and Lauren Roberts (2:49:08) were the group's biggest movers in the final stretch, posting the 13th- and 19th-fastest women's splits on the Mile 16→Finish segment respectively, climbing from deep in the women's field to 4th and 5th in F25-29.
• 14:32 separated 2nd through 5th — Auernig, Brandi Farrel (2:36:32), Hanson, and Roberts — while Seawell finished more than 14 minutes clear of the runner-up.

Seawell's race was a masterclass in patience and timing. She sat in 5th among all women through the first ten miles, matching the field's early rhythm at a 6:46/mi clip, then detonated on the Mile 10→Mile 15.6 stretch with the fastest women's split of anyone in the race. By the time that segment was done, she had moved from 5th to 1st among all women — a lead she never surrendered. Her 2:15:19 finish was simply in a different gear from the rest of F25-29.

Behind her, Auernig ran an admirably composed race. She settled into 7th among all women by Mile 4 and never drifted from it, posting the 7th-fastest women's split on the Mile 4→Mile 10 leg and finishing in 2:29:51 — more than seven minutes clear of 3rd-place Farrel (2:36:32). Farrel, who ran as high as 7th among all women early on, faded gradually through the middle miles to finish 12th in the women's field, though she still claimed 3rd in F25-29.

The race's most compelling late drama belonged to Hanson and Roberts. Both were buried well back in the women's field through 15 miles — Hanson as far back as 38th — but each found another gear in the final four miles. Hanson's strong Mile 16→Finish split pulled her up to 22nd among all women and 4th in F25-29 at 2:47:30; Roberts wasn't far behind at 2:49:08, finishing 23rd among all women. Casey Hamilton (2:52:17), Madeleine Malone (2:55:48), and Lauren Grijalva (3:01:19) rounded out the top eight, completing a deep F25-29 field of 29 finishers on a warm November morning in Folsom.
