In a warm November morning in Folsom — 74°F with only a whisper of wind — the F1-19 age group came down to two young runners who each had their own story to tell over 13.1 miles. Gia Lee, 19, from Davis, set the tone early and never relinquished it, crossing in 2:39:39 at a 12:11/mi clip to claim the age group title.

Lee's race had some movement worth noting. She sat 63rd among women at the first checkpoint, drifted back to 79th by mid-race, then worked her way back to 73rd by the finish — a meaningful recovery in the second half. Her Mile 10→Finish split ranked 72nd among all women in the field, showing she had legs when it counted most.

Carole Scott, just 14 years old from Wilton, brought real grit to her afternoon. Running at 14:14/mi, she held a remarkably steady position in the women's field — 107th at the midpoint and 107th at the finish — and wrapped up in 3:06:29. Completing a half marathon at 14 is no small thing, and Scott did it with consistency.

The gap between them was 26:50, reflecting two very different paces across the full distance, but both left Folsom with a finisher's result and an age group accounted for from top to bottom.
