The headline story of the F25-29 race belongs to Danna Lazarin, who turned in one of the most dramatic climbs of the day. Sitting 20th among women at the first checkpoint, the 27-year-old from México City was nowhere near the front — but she was moving. By the halfway point she had reached 11th, then 10th, then 8th, before a blazing final stretch powered by the 2nd-fastest women's split on the 10.65M–Finish segment delivered her all the way to 4th among women and 1st in F25-29. Her 1:33:07 at 7:06/mi was a commanding winning margin.

Lissie Ng of Oakland told a different story. The 29-year-old came out firing, sitting 4th among women through the opening miles and posting the 9th-fastest women's split on the 2.13M–6.62M segment. But the second half proved harder to hold, and she faded to 9th among women by the finish — still good enough for 2nd in F25-29 at 1:34:36 (7:13/mi). Lazarin's final-segment surge is what separated them; the finishing gap of 1:29 reflects how much time Lazarin made up by running the back half significantly faster.

Claire Sabin of Arlington, VA was the picture of consistency, sitting between 15th and 18th among women from start to finish and contributing the 16th-fastest women's split on the 7.12M–10.65M leg. Her 1:37:28 (7:26/mi) earned 3rd in F25-29. Behind her, Theresia Aschauer of München put together the field's most patient race, climbing from 45th among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 26th by the finish, landing 4th in 1:40:07. Alex Monks, racing at home in San Francisco, rounded out the top five in 1:40:47 — just 40 seconds behind Aschauer despite fading slightly through the second half.
