That pace was in a different league from the rest of the M50-54 field, and the gap showed it: Kris Lev-Twombly, the only other man in the group to break 21 minutes, finished in 20:16, a margin of 1:43.

Lev-Twombly's race had its own story. Starting 44th among the men, he worked his way up to 38th by the finish, picking off runners across the final mile to secure a confident 2nd place in M50-54.
