Jenna Magel, 24, of Sacramento, owned this race from start to finish. She was already sitting 20th among women at the first mile marker and drifted back slightly to 26th by mile two — but held that position all the way to the tape, crossing in 22:03 at a 7:06/mi clip. That's a clear minute faster than anyone else in the F19-24 group, and it was never really in doubt.

The real drama in the age group belonged to 19-year-old Melina Kim of Granite Bay. She was buried 59th among women after the opening mile, but ran the final stretch to the finish as the 11th-fastest woman in the entire field on that segment — a surge that carried her all the way to 35th among women overall and 2nd in F19-24 at 23:02. Fellow 19-year-old Elise Henderson of Roseville was steadier throughout, posting the 40th-fastest women's split on the middle mile and finishing 3rd in 23:39. Kim's closing kick was faster; Henderson's consistency was what kept her on the podium.

Emma Harris (25:31, 4th) and Mckensi Botkin (26:32, 5th) completed the top five, with Botkin notably slipping from 72nd among women at mile one to 79th by the finish — a slight fade in the back half. The rest of the 28-finisher field spread wide, from Serena Brotman's 28:56 in 6th through to the final finishers well past the 45-minute mark, reflecting the full range of the Sacramento crowd that turned out on a warm, breezy Memorial Day.
