By mile two she had moved from 14th to 9th among all women, and she closed out the race with the 7th-fastest women's split on the 2M→3M stretch, finishing 8th in the entire women's field. The runner-up, Bryn Mumma, finished more than three minutes back in 22:36. That's a decisive victory by any measure.

The real drama unfolded a tier below. Mumma (22:36, 7:17/mi) was the story of the second half of the race for this group — she climbed steadily from 42nd to 32nd among women and posted the 23rd-fastest women's split on the back half of the course. Behind her, Katie Sommerdorf (23:10) and Ia Yang (23:21) ran a tight 3rd-vs-4th battle. Notably, Yang had the stronger 1M→2M split of the two, but Sommerdorf held enough of a cushion built earlier to take 3rd by 11 seconds.

Sarah Fowler rounded out the top five in 25:50 (8:19/mi), with Nicole Gissell (6th, 26:25), Kelly Pope (7th, 27:51), and Elizabeth Schuttinger (8th, 28:32) filling out a competitive mid-pack. Josy Miller and Vanessa Pino-Kelly were separated by just 25 seconds at 9th and 10th — 29:16 and 28:51 respectively — keeping the racing honest all the way down the standings in a 41-woman field.
