Allison Marrazzo Furnanz of Lafayette simply ran a different race from everyone else. Her 6:43/mi average produced a 20:52 finish that stood more than five and a half minutes ahead of the next finisher — a margin that tells you the F40-44 win was never in doubt. In a field of 29, that kind of gap is a statement.

Dana Mcalexander of Summerville took 2nd in 26:14 at 8:27/mi, comfortably clear of the cluster that formed behind her. The real drama in this race played out from 3rd place onward, where Wanmin Wu of Palo Alto (32:22, 10:25/mi) edged Napa's own Nicole Whitaker (32:31, 10:28/mi) by just nine seconds. Vanessa Muniz of St. Petersburg rounded out the top five in 33:37, with Cynthia Harmon (6th, 34:12) and Gayetri Parmar (7th, 34:41) keeping the middle of the field tightly packed through the finish.

Erica Shim (8th, 34:53), Amy Munselle (9th, 35:22), and Yi Ma (10th, 35:51) completed a dense top ten where eight of the final nine spots were separated by fewer than four minutes. Mitsuko Yamamoto crossed in 11th at 38:14, with the back half of the listed field — from Miya Yamamoto's 12th-place 39:58 through Samantha Dunn's 20th-place 52:58 — spread across a wide range of paces on the cool Napa morning.
