Rocket City 10K: Lindsay edges Dock in a razor-thin M40-44 battle

• Andrew Lindsay (age 41, Huntsville) won the M40-44 group in 42:14 at a 6:48/mi clip.
• Kendall Dock (age 40, New Market) finished 2nd just 15 seconds back at 42:29 — the closest gap on the entire podium.
• Albert Butler (age 44) rounded out the podium in 3rd at 47:25, nearly five minutes behind Dock.
• 15 of 19 finishers crossed inside 1:10, with Josh Holritz (15th) and Bradley Wallace (16th) separated by just two seconds at 1:05:32 and 1:05:34.

Andrew Lindsay needed every second of home-course advantage on Saturday in Huntsville. Running at 6:48/mi, the 41-year-old held off a determined Kendall Dock by just 15 seconds — the tightest margin anywhere on the M40-44 podium. Dock, also 40 and racing from nearby New Market, matched Lindsay's 6:50/mi pace and made it a genuine two-man contest at the front. In mild December conditions — 59°F and a light 9 mph breeze — neither had any weather excuse to lean on.

The gap to third place tells a different story. Albert Butler (age 44, Owens Cross Roads) came in at 47:25, nearly five minutes behind Dock, but he ran a composed 7:38/mi to claim the final podium spot comfortably ahead of Frazer Spowart's 51:08 in 4th. Tim Burton (5th, 53:27) and Kyle Stephens (6th, 53:40) were separated by only 13 seconds, continuing the pattern of tight pairings throughout the field.

Further back, the race offered its own drama. Holritz and Wallace — 15th and 16th — were essentially inseparable, crossing at 1:05:32 and 1:05:34 respectively, a two-second gap after more than an hour of running. Jimmy Keyes (age 44, Conyers) brought home the 19th and final finisher spot in 1:18:31, completing a spread of just over 36 minutes from first to last across all 19 men in the M40-44 group.
