Boys 14-and-Under 5K: Martinez edges Ennis in a blistering sub-21 duel

• Grayson Williams, 10 — a remarkable 3rd-place finish in 23:49, four years younger than the winner and nearly a minute and a half clear of 4th.
• Bo Crosson, 7, Huntsville AL — finished 6th in 27:26 (8:50/mi), one of two 7-year-olds in a 17-kid field.

In warm, blustery conditions — 70°F, 17 mph wind, and thick December humidity — the M0-14 group produced one of the sharpest finishes of the morning. Willie Martinez ran a composed 6:29/mi to clock 20:10, but Aidan Ennis was right on his heels the whole way. Eleven seconds separated them at the line — roughly 60 feet of road between first and second place.

What makes that top-two battle even more striking is the age dynamic: Ennis is only 13, a year younger than Martinez, and ran 6:33/mi to nearly pull it off. Third-place Grayson Williams, just 10 years old, crossed in 23:49 — a 7:40/mi effort that left him a full 1:34 ahead of Bryant Bowen in 4th.
