Hugh Dunham, just 13 years old out of Moseley, VA, turned in a commanding performance on a tough morning — 71°F, 73% humidity, and a 17 mph wind off the Virginia Beach coast. Running 6:38 per mile across 13.1 miles, he was never seriously threatened. His position among the men's field told the story of a controlled, confident race: he settled around 80th–86th in the men's field through the middle miles and finished right back where he started, 79th among men — no dramatic fading, no desperate scramble.

William Eggleston, 14, from Wilmington, DE, was the race's most compelling subplot. He crossed the 10K checkpoint buried 143rd in the men's field, but ran progressively stronger from there — 126th at 15K, 100th at 20K — before settling at 107th at the finish. His 62nd-fastest split among the men from 20K to the finish line shows just how much he had left in the tank over the closing miles. He claimed 2nd in M0-14 in 1:29:30.

The battle for the final podium spot was settled by 35 seconds. Silas Brown (Carrboro, NC) ran a steady 7:14/mi to finish 3rd in 1:34:54, while Jack Moskowitz (Ridgefield, CT) crossed in 1:35:29 at 7:17/mi. Behind them, local Virginia Beach runner Caleb Heaton was the day's biggest climber in the back half — moving from 401st in the men's field at the 10K mark all the way to 277th by 20K before finishing 5th in M0-14 in 1:39:43.
