The M15-19 race at the Shamrock Half was Clarke's from start to finish. The 17-year-old from King George ran a composed 6:17/mi average — steady enough to hold off a competitive field on a warm, breezy Virginia Beach morning. At 71°F with a 17 mph wind and 73% humidity, those were honest conditions for a teenager to run 1:22:27, and Clarke did it without drama, sitting in the mid-40s among the men throughout and never slipping back.

West, 16, out of Yorktown, was the closest challenger, trimming places through the middle segments — moving from 56th among the men at 5K all the way to 47th by 15K — before settling for 2nd in 1:23:14. Carroll (18, Virginia Beach) rounded out the podium in 1:23:37, just 23 seconds behind West. Those two are the story of the final miles: Carroll and 4th-place Gage Carlsward (also Virginia Beach, also 16) both surged late, posting the 26th- and 27th-fastest splits in the women's field on the 20K-to-finish leg — the two sharpest closing kicks in the age group.

Carlsward's race had a different shape entirely. He was 37th among the men at 5K — the highest early position of anyone in the top five — but faded to 68th by 10K and couldn't fully recover, finishing 4th in 1:24:29. Cameron Joyce (5th, 1:25:13) showed the inverse pattern, strong early with the 45th-fastest 5K-to-10K split among the women, but drifting back through the second half. After the top five, a 2:44 gap opens to 6th-place Jakob Long (1:27:57), making the leading quintet a clear tier of their own in a 59-runner field.
