Brynn Barley, just 15 years old, took the F15-19 title at the Shamrock Half Marathon on a warm, breezy Virginia Beach morning — 71°F with a 17 mph wind that made every mile feel longer. Her 1:34:01 at 7:10/mi was the class of the field, and while her position among the women's field drifted slightly through the middle miles (39th at 5K, sliding to 44th by 20K), she reeled it back in over the final stretch, finishing 36th among women and posting the 18th-fastest women's split from 20K to the finish. That closing kick was the difference.

Behind her, Hannah Clarke ran the race in reverse — starting modestly and building relentlessly. She was 103rd among women through 5K, a gap that might have seemed insurmountable, but she carved through the field segment by segment, logging the 21st-fastest women's split between 15K and 20K and ultimately finishing 46th among women in 1:34:58. She closed to within 57 seconds of Barley, earning a clear 2nd in the age group.

Emily Yates, 16, offered the starkest contrast. She shot out of the gate as the 34th woman through 5K — ahead of where Barley would finish overall — but the conditions or the pace caught up with her, and she faded to 82nd among women by the line. Her 1:39:27 still secured 3rd in the age group, nearly five minutes clear of 4th. The battle for 4th and 5th was the tightest of the day: Lizzy Tierney (1:41:51) edged Morgan Axtell (1:41:53) by just two seconds, with Axtell actually running the stronger final segment — the 65th-fastest women's split from 20K to the finish — but unable to fully close the gap Tierney had built.
