Kevin Higgins set the tone from the gun. He entered the 10K checkpoint 219th among men, then steadily reeled in runners through the middle miles, reaching 181st by 15K before settling at 172nd at the line — a controlled, progressive effort at 7:10/mi that left the M65-69 field with no answer. His 12-minute margin over Thomas Burke wasn't a photo finish; it was a statement.

Burke held second without drama, running a steady 8:05/mi for 1:46:04. Behind him, Tom Robinson (1:49:42) and Richard Rice (1:50:54) separated themselves from Tapia with a combined gap of about 90 seconds. Rice's story was the most compelling of the chase pack: he was nearly 900th among men at the opening checkpoint, then systematically worked his way forward on every leg, posting the 444th-fastest split among all runners on the 15K-to-20K segment to lock in 4th.

Tapia, by contrast, went out aggressively — 305th among men through 5K — but the warm, humid conditions and stiff wind appeared to take their toll. He slipped steadily through the field over the final two-thirds of the race, finishing 5th in 1:52:24. Daniel Carayiannis through Donald Williams rounded out a tight 6th-through-10th cluster, all finishing between 1:55:11 and 2:02:24 — seven runners separated by just over seven minutes across a challenging coastal morning.
