The 75-year-old covered the 5K course in 44:37 at a 14:22-per-mile clip — a commanding effort on a warm November morning in Fresno, where 74°F temperatures tested every competitor. Her margin over Julia Ramirez was 10 minutes and 25 seconds, a gap that tells you this race was decided early and decisively.

Ramirez, at 77, was solid in second at 55:02, but the real drama played out further back. Patricia Felton (78) and Adelita Paglinawan (76) were locked in a grinding battle over the final stretch, separated at the line by just 26 seconds after more than 74 minutes of racing. Felton held on for third in 1:14:56; Paglinawan crossed fourth in 1:15:22.
