M25-29: Friesen takes the Fresno 5K in dominant fashion

Joshua Friesen, 28, of Fresno ran a composed 7:11/mi to take the M25-29 title on a warm November morning — 74°F and clear skies made for honest racing conditions. His 14-second margin over William Pallesi was comfortable without being crushing, and Pallesi's 22:33 at 7:15/mi was a genuine performance in its own right. Irving Palomino made the trip down from Arcata worthwhile, rounding out the podium in 22:48 — the three of them forming the only sub-23-minute cluster in the group.

Behind the podium, the race fractured quickly. AJ Lopez ran 23:59 to claim 4th, but that 1:11 gap back to Palomino signals just how decisively the top three separated themselves. Samuel Tukia followed in 5th at 25:42 (8:16/mi), and from there the field stretched out steadily — Ryan Cherry, Matt Contreras, and Parker White occupying the 6th-through-8th spots between 27:57 and 29:17. With 28 finishers spread across nearly 18 minutes of racing, the M25-29 group ran the full spectrum from sharp front-runners to determined finishers just happy to get the distance done in the Fresno heat.
