Becerra, running out of Sanger, was the closest challenger at 26:33, but nearly three minutes is a canyon in a 5K — that gap represents roughly 11% of the total race time.

Behind Becerra, the real racing happened. Ryan Cobbs (Fresno, 26:59) and Bryant Vock (Fresno, 27:12) were locked in a genuine battle for the final podium spot, separated by a mere 13 seconds over 3.1 miles — less than five seconds per mile between them. Cobbs held on for 3rd, Vock settled for 4th. Hector Elenes of Sanger rounded out the top five at 29:19, with Salvador Duron and Albert Corona close behind in a tight cluster between 29:30 and 29:54.

Further back, the 9th-place finish produced the day's most interesting footnote. Gregory Mizuno (Reedley) and Robert McCabe (Fresno) both recorded 33:07 on the clock, but the timing system — reading finer than the displayed second — separated them, awarding Mizuno 9th and McCabe 10th.
