Lorenzo Flores made this one look easy. The 56-year-old from Clovis crossed in 30:21 — a 9:46/mi average — while the rest of the M55-59 group was still well short of the finish line. The gap to second place was a staggering 14 minutes and 24 seconds, which in a 5K is less a race than a statement.

Behind Flores, the real competition played out between Loddy Tenizo and Fritz Glaser MD. Tenizo, 59, came in at 44:45, with Glaser just 29 seconds back at 45:14 — a genuine battle for the podium that could have gone either way. Michael Carter (49:47) and Shams Khwaja (52:25) rounded out the top five, separated by about two and a half minutes.

The back half of the field was tightly bunched, with Ferdinand Romero (55:29), Mark Sison MD (56:47), Shaun Mallam (57:28), and Charles Stransky (58:47) all finishing within a three-and-a-half-minute window of each other. Diomedes Cervania and DWIGHT Tiu — the latter traveling all the way from Palm Coast, FL — completed the group, with Tiu's 1:46:13 a reminder that finishing is its own achievement on a 74-degree race day.
