Pamela Campbell of Hoffman, IL was the story of the second half. She moved from 75th to 61st among women over the final segment — 14 positions gained — and her 50th-fastest women's split on that stretch shows real competitive firepower. The gap to Nemeth was 7:51, but Campbell's trajectory heading into the finish was sharply upward.

At the back of the age group, the two Madison locals — Cindy Moeller (67) and Karen Paulukaitis (65) — ran their own patient race. Moeller finished 3rd in 3:00:15 at 13:45/mi, with Paulukaitis just behind in 3:04:28 at 14:04/mi.
