Erin Deloney, 33, of Granite Bay, didn't just win the F30-34 age group at the Shamrock'n 5K — she ran in a different timezone. Her 18:31 finish at a 5:58/mi average put her nearly three minutes clear of the rest of the field, a margin that speaks less to any fading from those behind her and more to an outright dominant performance on a clear, cool March morning in West Sacramento.

Behind Deloney, the real racing happened between Andrea Guggenbickler and Meghan Fornaro. Guggenbickler, 30, of Sacramento, crossed in 21:27 at 6:54/mi to claim second, while Fornaro, 31, of Roseville, finished third in 22:16 at 7:10/mi. The 49-second gap between them was the tightest contest on the podium, and both women ran well clear of the chase pack below them.

That chase pack was a story of its own. Four through eight — Paola Sotelo (4th, 26:20), Kristin Smith (5th, 26:28), Tiarra Edgar (6th, 26:37), Crystal Harris (7th, 26:40), and Justine Kruger (8th, 26:45) — finished within 25 seconds of each other, all running in the 8:29–8:37/mi range.
