Shamrock'n 5K F35-39: Troyer blazes to the win in a field of 207

Jaimee Troyer, 35, out of Palmer Lake, Colorado, came to West Sacramento and made a statement. Her 18:58 at 6:06/mi was the pace of someone who came here to race, not just finish, and it held up as the class of a 207-woman F35-39 field. Suzanne Stewart, 36, from El Dorado Hills, gave her the closest thing to a chase the top of the leaderboard would see — 19:12 at 6:11/mi — but Troyer's margin was never seriously in doubt. Fourteen seconds is decisive at this distance.

Third place went to Michelle Zamora, 39, of Elk Grove, in 21:41 (6:59/mi) — a full 2:29 behind Stewart but a commanding cushion over the rest of the field. From 4th place onward, the race took on a different character entirely: Jenna Halsey (4th, 25:17) through Cait Marsden (10th, 26:27) were packed into just over a minute of racing, a cluster of eight runners trading seconds across the mid-pack.

The sharpest finish of the day belonged to Debbie Ferguson and Sarah Tabor, who crossed the line in 11th and 12th place both clocking 26:32 — but timing told the story, Ferguson edging ahead by 0.34 seconds after 3.1 miles of running. Meanwhile, Alexandria Traster (20th, 28:42) and Tahira Singh (19th, 28:41) were separated by just one second, a reminder that tight finishes weren't limited to the front of the pack. With 187 more finishers behind 20th place, the F35-39 group at this year's Shamrock'n 5K was deep, competitive, and full of hard-earned seconds.
