The 32-year-old Napa local crossed in 20:16 at a 6:31/mi clip — the fastest pace in the group by a clear margin — and never let anyone get close enough to threaten. Jason Dick (San Francisco, age 30) gave the best chase the field could manage, finishing 2nd in 20:39 at 6:39/mi, but that 23-second cushion was comfortable for Bozzini by the time the finish line arrived.

The real drama in this race unfolded one place back. Charlie Haley (3rd, 21:32) and Macwin Savio Dsouza (4th, 21:33) ran each other into the ground over 3.1 miles of cool, breezy Napa morning, finishing just one second apart. Haley held on, but it was as close as it gets without a photo finish deciding things. Ryan Mraz (5th, 21:48, 7:01/mi) wasn't far behind, completing a front pack that put five runners inside 21:48.

After that, the field spread out considerably. Raymond Yang claimed 6th in 23:38 — nearly two minutes off the pace of the top five — and the group from 7th through 20th ranged from Lukas Ng's 25:45 to Aldren Egenias's 33:18, with 10 additional finishers beyond that. A cool 48°F morning with a 12 mph wind made for solid racing conditions, and Bozzini took full advantage, turning in the kind of performance that leaves little room for debate about who owned the M30-34 race in Napa.
