Amanda Tyndall made the F35-39 age group look like a one-woman show. The 37-year-old from Erie, CO crossed in 28:15 at a blistering 5:41 per mile, landing 2nd among all women in the entire race. She also posted the 2nd-fastest women's split on the 2M–4M stretch — meaning she wasn't just fast at the start, she was still turning over at speed deep into the race. The gap to 2nd place Bailey Wilson was a commanding 4:05, which in an 8K is a chasm.

Wilson, representing Washington, DC, was a clear class above the rest of the field. Her 32:20 (6:30/mi) earned her 2nd in the age group and 6th among all women, and she too ranked 6th among women on the 2M–4M segment — consistent and controlled throughout. Ashley Craig of Lynchburg completed the podium in 34:36, running 6:58/mi to finish 11th among women overall and matching that ranking on the mid-race split as well.

The race's most compelling micro-battle came at 4th and 5th. Just behind them, Virginia Beach locals Cherie Davis and Jordan Cockrille finished 6th and 7th in three seconds of each other, both clocking 7:33/mi.

With 506 finishers, the F35-39 age group was a deep field on a mild March morning in Virginia Beach — 62°F and a light breeze off the coast. Tyndall simply ran a different race than everyone else.
