Shamrock 8K F50-54: Davison dominates with a 36:02 wire-to-wire victory

• Mary Davison won the F50-54 race in 36:02 (7:15/mi), more than three minutes clear of the field.
• Cathy Walsh ran the second-fastest finish in 39:15, closing with the 50th-fastest women's split on the second half to move from 67th to 53rd among women.
• Nikki Cifelli and Kellie Nicolao battled closely for 3rd and 4th, finishing in 40:04 and 40:21 — a 17-second gap after 8 kilometers.
• Siobhan Madison was the strongest mover in the top five, climbing from 105th to 86th among women by the finish en route to 5th place in 40:44.

Mary Davison simply ran away from a 415-woman F50-54 field. Her 7:15/mi average put her 3:13 ahead of second place — a margin that was never really in doubt. She held 21st among women through the first half, then turned up the pressure on the back half with the 22nd-fastest women's split of the entire race on the second half, climbing to 17th among women by the finish. At 52, she was the class of the field from start to finish.

Behind her, Cathy Walsh ran a smart, progressive race. Starting 67th among women, she steadily reeled in competitors across both halves, ultimately crossing in 39:15 at 7:54/mi — a strong second-place finish that was never really close to Davison but was never threatened from behind either. The battle for third was more dramatic: Nikki Cifelli (40:04, 8:04/mi) and Kellie Nicolao (40:21, 8:07/mi) ran much of the race in lockstep through the women's field, with Cifelli holding the edge at the line by 17 seconds. Notably, Nicolao's pace faded on the back half — she slipped from 75th to 79th among women — while Cifelli steadied to claim third.

Siobhan Madison's charge was one of the more eye-catching moves in the top ten: entering from Gambrills, MD, she went from 105th among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 86th at the finish, running a 84th-fastest women's split on the 2M–4M stretch to take fifth in 40:44. Rounding out the top ten, Staci Muckian (6th, 41:41), Kimberly Eidson (7th, 41:47), and Jennifer Salsano (8th, 41:50) finished within nine seconds of each other — a tight cluster to close out a competitive top half of the leaderboard.
