Benjamin Albers made the M30-34 race his own from the outset. Running a 5:54/mi average across the 8K course in Virginia Beach's mild but breezy 62°F conditions, the Morrison, CO native crossed in 29:21 — a margin that left no drama at the front. Erik Williams of Amazonia, MO gave chase and held firm in 2nd at 30:18, but the 57-second gap between them tells the real story: Albers was simply operating at a different gear.

Behind Williams, Brian Quintana (New Bern, NC) secured 3rd in 31:52, and Philip Stickney of Portsmouth — racing on home turf — came in 4th at 32:30. Ed Joshua Kyle Legaspi rounded out the top five in 33:46, leaving a clean 4:25 spread across the podium and the next two finishers.

The most compelling battle of the day unfolded further back. Calvin Hensler (Norfolk, VA) and Alexander Kerschl (Sumter, SC) were essentially inseparable — 34:31 and 34:33, two seconds apart after more than five miles of racing. Nolan Bonner (34:52) and Dana Rowe (34:56) staged a similar duel for 8th and 9th, split by just four seconds. In a group of 267 finishers, those mid-pack skirmishes were where the real racing happened.
