Shamrock'n 10K F13-15: Savannah Hansen runs away with it at 6:53 pace

• Savannah Hansen, 1st — 42:49 (6:53/mi): Won the F13-15 age group by more than five and a half minutes, and ranked 3rd among all women at the halfway point before finishing 4th among women overall.
• Tight middle pack: 3rd through 5th — Victoria Borge (53:36), Madera Finarelli (55:25), and Calla Wittenberg (56:14) — were separated by less than two and a half minutes across three finishers.
• Second half fade vs. surge: Calla Wittenberg dropped from 34th to 60th among women in the back half; Victoria Borge moved from 37th to 34th, picking up places when others slowed.
• Full field of 13: From Savannah's 42:49 to Genevieve Vang's 1:33:53, the F13-15 group spanned more than 51 minutes of racing.

Savannah Hansen, 14, made the F13-15 race a one-woman show from the gun. Running 6:53 per mile on a cool, clear Sacramento morning, she finished in 42:49 — a time that put her 4th among all women in the field. She was actually sitting 3rd among women at the 5K mark before settling into 4th by the finish, and her second-half split ranked 6th fastest among all women. That's not a teenager surviving a 10K; that's a teenager racing one.

Sonia Brown, also 14, claimed 2nd in the age group in 48:16 (7:46/mi), more than five minutes back but well clear of the rest. Brown's second half was slower relative to the women's field — she slipped from 9th to 13th among women in the back five kilometers — but she had enough of a cushion over 3rd-place Victoria Borge (53:36, 8:38/mi) to hold on comfortably.

The battle for the remaining podium spots and beyond played out with some genuine movement in the second half. Borge, 15, was the quiet mover — she climbed from 37th to 34th among women after the 5K, posting the 36th-fastest women's split on that segment. Madera Finarelli (4th, 55:25) held steady while Calla Wittenberg (5th, 56:14) faded noticeably, dropping 26 spots among women in the second half despite finishing just 49 seconds behind Finarelli. Aprilia Magana (6th, 1:00:43), Divya Kumar (7th, 1:02:48), and Mya Johnson (8th, 1:05:54) rounded out the top eight within a 25-minute window of the winner.
